Embedded part of the support foundation: features of flange and anchor products

The stable position of lighting poles and other long structures (for example, masts, lightning rods, flagpoles) is ensured by special built-in components located underground. They are pre-installed into the foundation body and then connected to the above-ground part of the column using reliable bolted or anchor connections.

Types of embedded parts for lighting supports

On the modern market, there are two groups of embedded products that allow you to firmly attach power line supports to the foundation, regardless of their height and weight. The main difference between the elements under consideration is the method of fastening the nodes.

Based on this, the built-in part of the foundation can be divided as follows:

  • Flanged (ZF or ZDF) – with square (type K) or round (type D) supporting parts (flanges);
  • Anchors (ZA or ZDA) – with square or round conductors.

These products are designed to fix lighting poles in a vertical position without external bracing or bracing. They are dug to a depth of 3 meters and then concreted. Thus, compressive and overturning loads are transferred to the ground. The built-in parts of the pillars are made of metal. They are available in several sizes and different weights.

They are recommended for use in the following conditions.

  • Moderately cold, moderately humid, moderately warm, hot and dry climate zones;
  • Areas with different wind load indices;
  • Slightly aggressive environments.

Support foundation embedded parts and masts protruding from the foundation block, including fasteners, are treated with a corrosion protection compound. They can be galvanized or coated with bitumen.

Flange embedded parts

The products are made from steel pipes of various diameters from 168 mm to 426 mm. A thick round or square flange with a hole in the center corresponding to the internal diameter of the pipe is welded to the top of the rolled metal.

The bolt cutouts are located as follows:

  • Type K (Square Flange) – 4-Piece, Angle Only;
  • Type D (round flange) – around the perimeter (the number of holes depends on the diameter of the applied element).

The lighting pole supports are screwed into the flange. Scarf-shaped metal supports are located behind the flange. They significantly strengthen the suspended platform and prevent deformation in the horizontal plane. Oval through holes are drilled in the sides of the metal pipes. The windows are designed for supplying underground electrical cables to lighting poles.

Flanged recessed elements for supports or masts are identified by letters and numbers. For example, product ZF-24/12/D396-2. 5-b is a built-in component with a round flange connection. There are 12 mounting holes around the perimeter for bolts with a diameter of 24 mm. The round groove is located at a diameter of 396 mm. The 2. 5 meter long pipe has a protective coating of bitumen.

Anchor embedded parts

The product consists of several spikes arranged in a circle, or four spikes installed on square corners. In both cases, individual elements are attached to a single structure using conductors located above and below the built-in parts. Mounting holes allow for attachment to pins with a diameter of 30-42 mm.

The total diameter of round anchor products intended for installation of supports or masts is determined by a conventional circle connecting the centers of the studs. Dimensions range from 540 mm to 1500 mm. For square elements, this indicator shows the distance between two corner pins.

The support legs are attached to the ends of studs protruding from the concrete mass, which are actually anchors. Fastening is carried out using fasteners provided in the working equipment. Typically, the anchor piece requires a nut and washer wrapped around a stud.

Symbols for identifying support anchor elements include:

  • Abbreviation for detailing;
  • Diameter and number of studs;
  • The location of the holes for conductors around the circumference or the distance between the corner slots;
  • Built-in length;
  • Symbol of the protective layer (CC – cold zinc, B-bitumen mastic).

Installation of structures

To bury the embedded part under the lighting, a pit is dug into which metal elements of flanges or anchors are installed in accordance with the technical documentation. After adjusting the components to their design positions, concrete is poured onto the foundation.

Important!

To maintain exact dimensions, formwork is required.

To avoid distortion of the supports, the laid elements must be carefully trimmed before concreting. Specific brands of bottling solutions are selected depending on the intended initiative. Specific requirements are specified in the project.

An important factor is compliance with the conditions for curing the monolithic mass. The supports are installed only after the concrete has reached its final (design) strength. Otherwise, the ground structure will begin to deviate from its vertical position under weight.
