The Ballerina Diet

The Ballerina Diet
Legends abound about the famous ballerina diet. These beautiful women, who shine on stage, must have strong muscles.
A ballerina diet for weight loss will help them stay in perfect shape. But don’t forget that these delicate dancers train intensely on stage: they are in motion for at least 8 hours.

The Ballerina Diet

With such high physical activity, there’s no need to eat just a single leaf of lettuce: extra pounds simply don’t have time to appear on the slender figures of these graceful beauties.

The main rules of the ballerina diet

The ballerina diet helps you lose 4–5 kg in a few days without any effort. Here are the main rules that these lovely dancers follow:

  • You need to cut your usual meal portions in half.
  • For lunch, stick to just one bowl of soup. Skip the main course.
  • It’s recommended to cut salt out of your diet or reduce your intake to a minimum. You can replace salt with herbs or aromatic spices.
  • You should drink enough fluids: at least 1.5 liters. It is not recommended to drink while eating. This can lead to digestive problems and the accumulation of toxins. Fluids should be consumed either half an hour before a meal or 60 minutes after finishing a meal.
  • You should eliminate foods that cause gas from your diet: sweet carbonated drinks, certain types of fruit, and legumes.
  • Pay attention to the fat content of the foods you eat.

Sample diet menu

What does a typical day’s meal plan for the ballerina diet look like? The first two days are dedicated to detoxifying the body.

The Ballerina Diet

The first day is rightly considered the tomato day: in the morning, you should drink 0.2 liters of tomato juice; lunch consists of 400 ml of this juice and a small slice of dark bread. For dinner, drink 0.2 liters of juice.
The next day is known as the kefir day. The plan for this day is roughly the same as the first, except that you should drink kefir instead of tomato juice.
For the remaining 5 days, you must follow this menu:

  • In the morning, eat 50 grams of cottage cheese. This product must be low-fat. You may mix the cottage cheese with yogurt. You may also eat half a serving of porridge cooked in water, or bread with hard cheese.
  • For your second breakfast, drink 0.2 liters of juice. Half an hour later, you may eat low-fat yogurt or one green apple.
  • Lunch should be light: you could prepare some boiled fish or a vegetable salad. Rice or buckwheat is recommended as a side dish. A small piece of dark chocolate will round out the meal.
  • The ballerina diet is designed to slim the legs. It helps shed excess weight from the lower body as well. Therefore, the diet includes a light afternoon snack: 0.2 liters of vegetable broth without bread.
  • For dinner, they eat pan-sautéed vegetables, oven-baked fish, and a small portion of salad.

A ballerina’s diet can be described as varied and frequent; as a result, dancers do not feel hungry and experience a sense of lightness throughout their bodies.

Maya Plisetskaya’s Diet Rules

What diet is popular among ballerinas? Many dancers follow the dietary rules established by the great Maya Plisetskaya.
The famous ballerina’s diet excluded sugar and smoked foods. In difficult situations, a strict diet came to the dancer’s rescue: it allowed her to lose more than 10 kilograms in 14 days.
During this time, Plisetskaya avoided meat, dairy products, and eggs. She excluded chocolate and coffee from her daily menu and did not add spices to her meals.

For lunch, Maya ate oatmeal; for dinner, she had a vegetable salad or stewed vegetables. The ballerina’s dinner consisted of boiled fish and a low-calorie salad, with Plisetskaya preparing rice as a side dish. Between meals, Maya ate fresh fruits and vegetables and drank plenty of fluids.

The most important secret to a ballerina’s slim figure is the Ballerina Diet

This diet is difficult for people accustomed to eating a lot of meat. Plisetskaya herself did not consider this diet strict; she constantly strove for lightness and asceticism.

The Ballerina Diet

The problem for many ballerinas is that they quickly gain weight after retiring. Due to the lack of physical training, dancers gain extra pounds even on a low-calorie diet.

The Ballerina Diet

In addition, ballerinas develop chronic conditions: diseases of the spine, knees, and ankle joints.

The Ballerina Diet

The popularity of the ballerina diet is easy to explain: after the release of the film starring Natalie Portman in the lead role, young girls wanted to look like the delicate and feminine actress.
