The Cucumber Diet

One of the most accessible, simple, and effective ways to lose weight is the cucumber diet.
Cucumbers are more than 90% water and have a very low caloric content, making them an excellent choice for any diet.

Types
Before discussing diets, let’s consider the contraindications:
- problems with the gallbladder and kidneys;
- stomach problems;
- diabetes;
- a weakened immune system;
- infections;
- vitamin deficiency;
- pregnancy.

There are countless ways to lose weight using cucumbers, but we’ll focus on the most popular ones.

The 7-Day Diet
The one-week cucumber diet is a good option for weight loss that strikes a balance between speed and strictness while delivering noticeable results. The diet requires consuming at least 2.5 kg of cucumbers daily.

If all recommendations are followed, it is possible to lose 7–8 kg. Nutritionists do not recommend sticking to it for longer, as there is a risk of health problems.

Sample Menu
Every morning for breakfast, eat a slice of rye bread and cucumbers.
Your daily afternoon snack can consist of any fruit and cucumbers.

Your daily dinner should consist of cucumbers, greens, and olive oil. You can make a salad using these ingredients:
- Soup made from fresh or frozen vegetables, a salad of cucumbers and available greens, 1 apple
- Cucumber and cabbage salad, 50 g of beef (grilled or boiled)
- A salad of cucumbers and bell peppers, 100 g of fish (raw or boiled), 50 g of boiled rice
- Cucumber and tomato salad, 100 g of steamed rice, 30 g of hard cheese
- Cucumber salad with green onions, 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 grapefruit
- Radish and cucumber salad, 100 g of chicken breast, cut into pieces, 1 pear
- Carrot and cucumber salad, 100 g low-fat cottage cheese, 1 small orange

If you feel extremely hungry, you may eat 1 cucumber in the evening. More than that is not recommended, as cucumbers have a diuretic effect and may interfere with a good night’s sleep.

Two-week diet
As we know, the most effective diets are considered to be gentle ones designed for a long period of time, since with overly strict diets, the human body quickly adapts to the new conditions and weight loss stops.

Based on this, the two-week cucumber diet for weight loss can help you lose more than 10 kg. If you strictly follow all the recommendations and take the right approach, it can help you lose up to 12 kg.

There are two versions of the diet:
Classic
It is based on a combination of cucumbers, low-fat kefir, and buckwheat.

Days 1–6 of the diet — alternating:
Cucumbers in any quantity and buckwheat (the ideal option is to soak it overnight in a ratio of 250 g of buckwheat to 500 g of boiling water);
Throughout the day, you can eat 1.5 kg of cucumbers and drink 1.5 liters of low-fat kefir. It doesn’t really matter how or in what order you do this.

Days 7–14 of the diet:
Morning: 200 g of buckwheat (preparation method described above) and 250 ml of kefir;
After that, you can eat as many cucumbers as you like and drink 1 liter of low-fat kefir throughout the day.
American
This diet will result in weight loss of 7–9 kg. The following foods form the basis of this diet:
- Unlimited amounts of cucumbers. You can eat them plain, or make salads using low-fat yogurt or kefir as a dressing (2 tbsp per 0.5 kg). You can also make smoothies with apples and greens;
- 2 large potatoes.
- Optional: either 2 hard-boiled eggs and 150 g of fish packed in its own juice, or 150 g of cooked chicken breast;
- Half a kilogram of apples.

All of the foods listed above can be consumed in any order. Be sure to drink at least 1.5 liters of water.

Regardless of the diet and method you choose, it is important to remember that all methods of weight loss can lead to health problems. Therefore, a good option for losing weight with cucumbers is to incorporate weekly fasting days using any of the options listed above.
