North America

In the north of the western hemisphere of planet Earth, North America is located – the 3rd largest continent. Its territory consists of 20 three countries.
The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Caribbean Sea wash the continent in the south, the Arctic Ocean dominates in the north, and the Atlantic Ocean surrounds the eastern coastline. Quite a lot of mountain ranges are located in the center of North America, and between them there are plains rich in productive lands.
The first inhabitants of the continent of North America are the Eskimos, Aleuts and Redskins, and they were the first to come to this land from Asia. During the Middle Ages, sailors from Europe discovered and captured “new lands.” Most of the peoples inhabiting this continent were wiped to smithereens by the new owners of the local territories…

Many necessary minerals of great importance are found in the depths of this continent. Among them, it is possible to highlight the following natural resources: uranium, nickel, flammable gases, coal and even later. North America is famous for its oil and gas fields, which are hidden in the depths of the northern part of Canada.
Climate of North America
The climate of the continent is very varied and very unpredictable, starting with the Arctic in the far north, while in the central regions continental prevails, and in the coastal regions oceanic. Depending on climatic conditions, the air temperature on the continent invariably changes. The northwest coast receives a huge amount of precipitation, slightly less in the southeastern territories, and in the central and intermountain plains of the subtropics and tropics the amount of precipitation ranges from a thousand to quite a few millimeters per year. The entire north of the continent is covered with snow in winter, and the temperature drops below – forty-four degrees.

North America has the largest river system. For example, the Mississippi River is very long, its length is thousands of kilometers. Since the territory of the northern continent was once covered with ice, from this came the birth of countless lakes, among which the Great Lakes, Bear Lake, Slave Lake, Winnipeg and many others are well known. North America is mostly covered with forests, especially the central region of Canada, which has rugged taiga with mixed and broad-leaved forests.

North America – the continent of the New World
It is worth emphasizing that humanity has greatly modified the local lands, diversifying the local vegetation, which is especially prevalent in the United States of America. The fauna inhabiting North America is adapted to a fate in deserts, dense forests and taiga steppes. The mainland is famous for its national parks; there are approximately more than fifty of them.
