Removing Unwanted Hair at Home
a woman’s skin should be smooth and velvety. Unwanted hair all over the body is always a hassle. But how can you get rid of it? Today, there are many different ways to remove unwanted body hair. These include shaving, waxing, various creams, etc. Let’s take a closer look at each of them and identify their pros and cons.
Shaving . Shaving is one of the most well-known and widely used methods. Shaving cream is applied to the area with unwanted hair. Then, lightly gliding the razor over the skin, you should shave against the direction of hair growth. The only advantage of this method is the speed of hair removal. The disadvantages include: short-term results, skin irritation, etc.
Depilatory cream This method is quick and painless. Apply the cream evenly to clean, damp skin and wait 5–10 minutes. The chemical in the cream dissolves the hair. Then remove the cream with a spatula. This method also does not provide long-lasting results. There is also a risk of an allergic reaction.
Wax strips. Split the wax strip into two pieces, press it firmly against the skin, and pull it sharply toward you. This method is quite uncomfortable, but the results last a long time.
Plucking . Plucking is usually done on small areas of the face using tweezers. The results of this procedure last about as long as those from wax strips. After plucking, the hair grows back softer and less noticeable.
Epilator . An epilator consists of a rotating drum and metal tweezers. The tweezers grasp and remove hairs along with the root. The device keeps the skin smooth for 2–4 weeks. You should choose an epilator with two speed settings. The first (slow) setting is less painful and well-suited for beginners. Once you get used to it, you can switch to the second mode (fast). The hair removal procedure using an epilator is unpleasant. This method isn’t suitable for everyone, as the device is quite expensive. You also shouldn’t use it if you have varicose veins, many moles, papillomas, or various skin conditions.
