There are approximately two million lakes in the Russian Federation, some filled with fresh water and others with salt water. Mount Elbrus is considered the highest point in the Russian Federation.
Climate of Russia
The climate in the Russian Federation is very diverse and has some peculiarities, which depend on the sequence of geographical factors. Cold and warm climates are characteristic of almost the entire territory of the Russian country. Most of the country is located in the temperate climate zone, the Arctic and subarctic zones contain the islands of the Arctic Ocean, and the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus is located in the subtropical zone.
