Antarctica

Antarctica is considered the coolest continent on planet Earth. It is called a part of the world, including the mainland and adjacent islands.
The continent was discovered by a Russian expedition. It itself is located in the southern part of the planet. It is washed by the waters of three oceans. Since the center of Antarctica is located at the southern pole of the earth, this area is called the Southern Ocean, which is characterized by strong storms and strong winds.
Antarctica ranks first among second continents in terms of its average height; this height is given by glaciers. The continent is 90% composed of ice cover, the height of which is perhaps more than four thousand meters. This ice contains eighty percent fresh water. We are confident that if the glaciers melt, there will be a global flood due to the fact that the water level in the oceans and seas will rise by sixty meters. Antarctica has an extraordinary structure; it looks like a dome.

Antarctica – the kingdom of eternal penguins and ice
Studies of the continent have shown that one third of it is under water. Scientists have found a huge crater with a diameter of about five hundred kilometers. It is assumed that the pit was formed by an asteroid that fell from space, approximately two hundred and fifty million years ago. It is believed that its fall was the result of local permafrost for many centuries. This is an important event in the destruction of the vital functions of all life on this continent. This crater is currently considered the largest on the planet.

About the climate of Antarctica
The climate of the mainland is very hard and cold. The air temperature reaches low degrees. There are fundamental differences in weather changes in the center and on the outskirts of the continent. The center is distinguished by bright sunshine and calmness, at a time when strong storms prevail on the coast. The wind is gusty and scaly, in some places it is possible to reach about ninety meters per second.
Weather in Antarctica
The seasons of the year on this continent are recognized in a completely different way. The winter months are considered to be June, August and July, and the summer months, on the contrary, are December, February and January. In summer the continent gets little warmer. Warm weather here is considered to be an air temperature from minus thirty to minus fifty degrees Celsius. In the center there is a large increase in temperature to zero degrees. Based on this, there is practically no rainfall, but snow always falls. The winds will not stop, roughly speaking, from April to November.

fauna and flora of Antarctica
Due to the cold climate, the local flora and fauna are very poor. Plants include fern-like trees, algae, lichens, and fungi. Animals include seals, penguins, walruses, fur seals, and many others. All of these species live on the ocean coast, while land animals are virtually absent from the mainland.

Because Antarctica is covered in snow-covered icebergs and ice, there are no states, either free or dependent, here. It is inhabited by bases built by a couple of countries to explore the continent.
