Australia

Australia is the smallest continent on the planet. The land area it occupies is only five percent; the continent itself is located in the southern hemisphere of the planet.
Australia is washed on three sides by one Indian Ocean and two seas from the east: Tasman and Coral.
The first to visit and discover these lands were sailors from Holland; therefore, this continent was initially called “New Holland”. Only later, a navigator from England, having circumnavigated the mainland, proposed a name – Terra Australis. But his request was not immediately approved. Much later, the governor of one of the states named this continent Australia, and at his request to the Colonial Affairs Ministers of England, this name was officially confirmed in documents.

The capital of Australia is considered to be the city of Canberra. Its origin is interesting because it is created in an unnatural way. The capital was located symmetrically from Melbourne and Sydney in order to put an end to and give the go-ahead to the dispute between these cities that encroached on the status of the capital. The layout turned out to be very successful, and thanks to the highlights of the landscape, the new capital became an exemplary example of a new direction in the field of construction and architecture. The population of the capital is three hundred eighty thousand people, which allows you to tour the city in one day.

fauna and flora of Australia

Since the mainland is located at a great distance from other continents, its natural and animal world is very wide and diverse. It is inhabited in single copies by very rare animals that are absent on second continents. But it is necessary to emphasize that there are not so many animals on the continent; most of the inhabitants are different species of birds. In Australia, cereals, grapes, and some types of fruits and vegetables are widely grown. There is a lot of flora and an unusual world of fauna here.
