Ford EcoSport – economical and all-wheel drive crossover

motorists from Russia are not familiar with the first Ford EcoSport, however, neither are car enthusiasts from Europe. The official production date of the Ford EcoSport is 2004. More recently, the second generation crossover entered mass production. Under the “blue oval” we can see an improved model of the car, created on the same platform as the Fiesta hatchback.

The improved model is supposed to be supplied to all countries, with an emphasis on the so-called third world countries. The model is planned to be assembled with both right and left-hand drive. This Ford project is truly huge.

Meanwhile, in the countries of Southeast Asia and South America, the crossover has been on sale for a whole year, while it has just appeared in Europe. This should not be surprising, because a new generation crossover was produced in Brazil at the Ford Motor division. And at the head of the design leadership of the five-door “sport-utility” was the Egyptian Ehab Kaoud. We expect the crossover to appear at the end of the year. Now we can evaluate its distinctive features, advantages and disadvantages.

The main advantage of the new model of the five-door compact “sport utility vehicle” is that at first glance it really does look compact and has an impressive appearance. The car creates an impression, it looks “cool”, especially from the front view; matching Ford Ecosport mudguards purchased in the online store \”AutoModa\” also count. The crossover has decent ground clearance, it is raised above the road, and the roof line is located quite high. Decent ground clearance, by the way, plays into the hands of domestic motorists, given the peculiarities of our roads. And the all-wheel drive design of the crossover gives it even more solidity to domestic users.

as for the aerodynamics of the Ford EcoSport II, it is as follows: the air resistance coefficient is 0. 371. However, with a frontal area of ​​about 2. 45 m2, the aerodynamic factor increases, this is already 0. 91. Comparable performance with an American pickup truck. Unfortunately, the indicators are not at all rosy. Neither in terms of fuel consumption, nor in terms of wind noise at high speeds, such indicators are not positive.

The five-door “sport utility vehicle” is considered compact; it falls in size class B. But in fact, the crossover is not so small. The wheelbase of the crossover, which is the main size of the car, is three centimeters longer than that of the Fiesta. There are seats in the car for five adults. In the second row, however, it is a little cramped, but there is enough legroom, and the height is decent, no one rests their head on the roof.

The front panel looks great, which is understandable, it is “written off” from the same Fiesta. Everything is convenient for the driver, at hand. In the center of the panel there is a 3. 5-inch control display. All on-board systems are where they need to be.
