Victor Petliura – Biography
Famous pop music performer – Viktor Petliura, was born in the city of Simferopol, October thirtieth, 1975. The main genre in which Viktor Petlyura performs his songs is chanson.
Victor is often confused with another, no less popular performer of that time – Yuri Barbashev, whose fans knew him under the pseudonym “Petlyura”. But, in fact, Yuri Barbashev died tragically long before Victor’s first album was recorded, and the style of performing songs between these two pop stars is very different, although similar in genre. Victor’s surname Petlyura is real, although few people believe it, considering it just a sonorous pseudonym.
From childhood, Victor showed musical talent. He knew how to play the guitar at the age of 11, performing at that time mainly folk songs. He assembled his first group at the age of thirteen. He wrote songs for his group himself, and it was then that he showed his ability not only to perform musical compositions, but also to write his own songs. Victor’s musical group, just a year after its creation, was invited to a local amateur club, which guaranteed frequent performances and also had the opportunity to rehearse in more comfortable conditions. Victor’s own style of performance and the direction of Victor’s songs began to develop and take hold during this period of his musical activity.
After graduating from school and entering college, Viktor Petlyura and his friends create a new musical group. At the same time, he is invited to work as a musician in a local restaurant, as well as a guitar teacher in a local club. Every year, music begins to play an increasingly important role in his life; he begins recording music on professional equipment, participating in music competitions and performing at festivals.
Over time, Victor finally decided on the style of music he performed, choosing chanson as his main direction. His first album, “Blue-Eyed,” was released in 1999, and the next, entitled “You Can’t Get Back,” was released in the year 2000. Both of these albums were recorded in temporary rental studios, where performers of popular and rock music usually recorded their works, which made it quite problematic to find a common language with musicians who were not accustomed to performing music for songs in the chanson style. The next album was recorded at his own studio, where, by that time, a team carefully selected by Victor himself was already working, with whom he still works. At the moment, in his studio, in addition to the artist himself, other popular chanson performers also record their compositions. A new album by Viktor Petlyura is released every year, and sometimes two albums are released at once in a year.
As Victor himself says, chanson is, first of all, soulful songs. He always treated other chanson performers with great respect, because you cannot sing songs in the style of chanson if they do not come from the very heart of the performer.
